“You seem very fond of that young man—Dean. I see the way you two look at each other. It reminds me of my husband and I, back when we were courting. My husband’s dead. He died last year.”
“I'm sorry.”
She looked out the window at the bird. “You’re never really prepared to lose someone you love. I thought the two of us would grow old together.”
