“The doctor will let you know when you can see the lieutenant. Right now is not a good time. I suggest you get a good night’s sleep and see what tomorrow morning brings.”
Nurse Cintero put her arm around Diana’s shou...lder, leading her back to her room. “If you love your lieutenant, don’t go against orders. He’s fragile now. You’d never forgive yourself if you caused his heart rate to accelerate and put him into cardiac arrest.” The nurse met Diana’s eyes and spoke in a lowered voice. “It’s not all about you, Ms. Racine.”
