“You were right. The piece she took was a pen and ink, too small to conceal what we’re after. She exited... the store by the side entrance three minutes ago.”
“Three minutes ago?” Sam raced toward the corner.
“Yeah, I hung around to make sure she didn’t double back for the painting.”
Sam hadn’t seen the women emerge from the side street. But he hadn’t exactly been watching for them from that direction, either. Ned should’ve notified him the instant she left the gallery.MoreLess
