“After Jingle and McGinty had gone Judy asked Pat how she and her boy-friend had got on. Boy-friend was not so insulting as beau. Pat, hauling in a big word to impress Judy, condescended to remark haughtily, “We entertained each other very well.”

“But he was so stupid he thought it was a person he’d run into.”
