She had somewhat feebly tried to dismiss her attraction to him as hormones run amok, but even when it had started becoming clear that he didn’t want or need anything more than the life he already had, she hadn’t tried to protect herself. Nowhere along the line could she think of a single thing she’d done to not fall in love with him.
The recriminations echoed in her head as she measured and scooped, stirred and chopped. Worse, no matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t stop thinking about the way he’d looked when he’d left.
