“The chaise lifted on its springs, when the ponderous post captain removed his twenty stone weight from the seat. The man had indeed apparently partied well and was in a cheerful mood when he walked up to Phillips. Looking around, he said, “Johnson here, Ariel. Where the devil did you get all these seamen? Want to trade? I need a dozen good topmen.” Thinking quickly, Phillips said, “Captain, my name is Phillips, Vigorous. These men are spoken for, but there are plenty more where I got these,... waiting to be entered on a ship’s books. You loan me a couple of boats to take these men to my ship and I’ll introduce you to the man in charge.
