We copped two cabs and went to the Paradise, a hotel-casino overlooking the water. It was beautiful. The outside of the hotel, with its steel- and glass-encrusted concrete, shimmered in the midafternoon sun. Anja said the building looked as if it was moving. The hotel had a security system like the airport’s.
