Rules for the regulation of the Navy of the United Colonies" were adopted by the Continental Congress on November 28, 1775. These rules were reenacted and continued in force by an act of Congress approved July 1, 1797 (1 Stat., 525). Thereafter, on March 2, 1799, there was approved "An act for the government of the Navy of the United States." (1 Stat., 709.) On March 2, 1855, there was passed "An act to provide a more efficient discipline for the Navy." (10 Stat., 627.) The Articles for the Government of the Navy.?Section 1624 of the Revised Statutes is a codification, under the title of "Articles for the Government of the Navy," of the laws in existence prior to December 1, 1873, governing the administration of justice in the Navy.
