“She knew he didn’t want her to see exactly how weak he still was, which was why he wouldn’t let her help him with the horses. She also knew he needed to see for himself how strong he’d actually gotten. She’d go out and help him tonight, but for now, she was enjoying the solitude of his home, surrounded by Brent’s things. She was cutting up meat for a stew to simmer and fill the house with delicious aromas, looking around his sparse kitchen.
