“She stepped inside, dropped her purse on the small hall table before covering her face with her hands. What had she done? A small bark caught her attention, she lower her hands and gazed at the small brown and tan dog who sat on the floor glaring at her.
“I’m sorry, Rosie.” Forgetting her own turmoil, she walked into the kitchen and fed her dog. Rosie turned her nose up in the air at the food.
Beth sighed. “Angry at me for not coming home last night?” Kneeling down on the tile, she stroked her dog’s head. “I know I shouldn’t have stayed out all night, let alone gone home with a man I knew nothing about. But there was something about him, Rosie.”
Heat flooded her veins as she remembered the way Jake stroked her skin. A shiver went through up her spine.
