“Since Arnold and Karen were into a conversation that sounded private, and Roy was giving forth on the importance of “winning” while he demolished an immense plate of food, Shearer turned his attention to browsing the schedule for the day ahead while he ate. Roy’s attitude toward him lately tended to vary between cool and hostile.
