“Her emotions swamped her. She loved him. How and why meant nothing next to the fact that she trusted Conlan and had no rational reason to. It was a gut feeling, more than the sex—though that in itself was addicting. He spoke to her on another level.
They had so much in common. Struck by his intelligence, his sense of humor, and God, that body, she didn’t want to be anywhere but by his side in life. And yeah, that scared the hell out of her, because surviving Perry was one thing. Conlan leaving would tear a hole in her heart she didn’t think she could survive.
“It’s too soon,” she blurted while he stripped. She lay back on the bed, as ordered, naked and spread-eagled for him.
“Yep.”
“I mean, I barely know you.” His sweatshirt landed on the pristine floor. The rest of his clothes soon followed.
“Uh-huh.”
“We haven’t even had our first major fight yet.”
“There’s that.” He walked—or rather, stalked—toward her. “Get on your hands and knees on the bed.”
