He pulled himself hand over hand from the blood and up the side of a large rock standing beside the trail—the rock he had landed against headfirst when he fell from the runaway wagon. His huge head pounded like a bass drum.

Ahead of him where the wagon had gone off the trail, he heard the sounds of Grolin, Spiller and Penta gathering gold ingots on the rocky hillside. This is the first obvious Compton error I've seen do far. It's a pretty poor reason to blow the safe with dynamite. w=Whether blown or cracked another way, it puts the authorities on warning that there is a gang after those safes, and they'll only increase their guard over the one with the gold.

I'm surprised. And the "bad men" are portrayed far too much as quarrelsome and very stupid. It was obvious from before Rock revealed himself as a government man that he was one. (or Pinkerton)
