Marriage (2014)
“They had just come home from a party with friends. He’d hung their coats in the closet and come up behind her in the kitchen where she’d been preparing their coffee for the morning. She felt his strong arms encircle her waist and was turning to lift her head to kiss him when Miko grabbed her shoulder and shook her awake.
“It is ten o’clock. Much to do, so get up,” Miko said. Mi Jong stood beside the older woman. Both of them glared down at Kathy. Miko pointed toward the bathroom. Kathy forced yesterday’s encounters with Abul from her mind while she showered. Instead she tried to relive the dream. After she dried, she wrapped a towel around her and opened the door to the small bedroom. She glanced at the bed and instinctively brought her hands to her mouth to stifle a cry of despair. Spread out on the top sheet was the wedding dress she’d worn three years ago when she and Jeff were married.
