“Tanner and Samantha slowly backed out of the structure, neither of them confident that this would be the last they would see of Lars and Yo-Yo. They hurried along the edge of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool. It was the first time either of them had ever been close to the two-thousand-foot-long body of water. There was no temptation to drink from it, however, as there were dozens of bloated corpses floating on the surface.
