“At noon Jake walked Samantha to the theatre for rehearsals; later, around five, he showed up with a little something from her “cousin” for supper. Loquacious and friendly as he was, Jake soon began to talk as though the theatre had become his life too. Samantha barely refrained from laughing aloud as he spoke familiarly of Kean and Elliston, Wroughton and Rae, as though he had known them all his life.
