The thought made Brooks smile inwardly as he kissed her.

“Yes, Brooks darling, tell us, why are you torturing her?” Violet Ashland stood staring at him with her cold eyes. “We both want to hear the answer to that one,” she said as she walked toward them.
A strangled sound escaped Marisa’s lips.
