“Unable to return to sleep and afraid that I would wake Alia, I went out for a short jog to stretch my legs before what was promising to be an agonizingly long car ride. Fortunately, the rain had stopped and most of the clouds had cleared overnight, and I watched the sunrise from a clearing in the park. The sun was one of the few absolutes in the world.
