George Borrow lived in England during the 19th century. This is not a high-minded book, but rather the story telling of Borrow’s early life and his adventures. All pranks take place in the United Kingdom, which he admires. As a character, he is a bit quiet, but the situations and especially people he meets are both incredibly real and bizarre by any standards. There are three main characters in the book - a scholar, a Gypsy and a Priest. The author shows all the pomp of religion in his book. But
...even with that his Priest is shown as a very good man trying to bring his message to people.
