... A bus passed, slowly grinding down the dog-legs to the valley below. The passengers stared at the brief vision materializing out of the fog, the black and white figures at the side of the road. Then they were gone. The bus braked to make way for a fast car that suddenly loomed in front of it, headlights blazing. Car and bus grazed past each other.
