Not that she honestly thought he’d let anyone else actually take a whack at her, but to be honest, from the moment they’d arrived at the party and she’d spotted Tilly, she had tried to maneuver her friend into a secluded corner to talk. She knew that look on Tilly’s face all too well.
There was something bothering her best friend, and she knew she needed to talk with her.
Loren also suspected what that something was, based on what they’d talked about a few weeks earlier on their way home from St. Pete after having lunch with Clarisse and several other friends.
Finally, there was a lull where everyone was either watching Chelbie and her men playing together, or watching Ray and Oot put kitten through her paces on the Sybian. Loren was able to hook an arm through Tilly’s and pull her into the back bedroom, where she shut and locked the door.
