“Hal said, suddenly remembering that she had brought them along. Emily’s gaze never left the spectacular scenery as she slowly removed the binoculars from around her neck and passed them to Dewey, who in turn passed them to Lauren, nudging her first to get her attention. When Lauren blinked and looked down, she seemed surprised to find the binoculars in her hands. Hal gently plucked them from her. Lauren looked like someone had just eaten her last cookie. She pouted and looked longingly at the b...inoculars as Hal took them. “I’m next after you,” she said firmly. The binoculars were large and heavy, with a handy leather strap. Afraid of dropping them, Hal slung the strap around his neck, then brought the glasses to his eyes.
