“Oh my gosh, I’ve got to get to rehearsal!”     She pulled a cell phone from a zippered pocket. “Justice? Hey, can you drive me to rehearsal? Great. Pick me up in front of Saint Vincent’s on Seventh, see you in fifteen? I’ll tell you when I see you. By the way, I’ve got Ellen with me. Okay. I’ll tell her. Perfect.”     As soon as Ellen heard Temerity include her in the conversation, she had instinctively tried to retreat, but Temerity had anticipated this and, after only a slight flail, snatched her sleeve, holding on tight. When she ended the call, she said, “I want you to come with me. Justice said he’ll hang out with you while I’m rehearsing. I won’t be long. It’s a run-through for a performance.”     “I don’t think that’s a very good idea.”     Temerity smiled. “That would be an accurate assessment of absolutely everything we’ve done in the last couple of days, but we did it anyway and I don’t see any reason to quit now.
