“It was a freaky thing to see one’s self, lying still while hovering beside it. Viewing it from afar as an outsider would. It didn’t look like the Jake he knew when he looked in the mirror. His emotions had detached with him and all that deemed to be lying on the steel gurney, was a carcass. A heavy, dense mass of matter that enabled others to recognize him. That was all. Staring at the lifeless form he wondered how the human race could ever survive in such a fragile form. His skin looked waxen ...and pale. Closed eyes, sheathed in purple. Lips dry with a bluish tinge. Arms tucked neatly under the thermal blanket. Heels together with feet at a relaxed angle. The angle of death. The beeping of the monitor was starting to become damn annoying. He didn’t need to be with his body just now.
