“I chastised myself for the decision, feeling as though I was still being too lenient—but where was I supposed to draw the line? Was I supposed to pretend that I didn't think about him, or miss him? Was I weak for letting him back in? I knew he had done awful things, I recounted them often in my dreams and in my spare time—but I also was fully aware of another side of him, the side that made me want to try again. I had made it into work a little early, but I didn't mind. The environment ...was comfortable, and I could always keep myself busy.
