“It was the last breath of summer, the brief final outpouring of warmth and light before the coming of fall. It is a time of year whose moments stand out clearer than any other, perhaps because they are inevitably tinged with sadness. The gardens and meadows, so fragrant and richly hued, will soon be barren, chilled by the icy pallor of the winter sun. During this season I find my moods constantly changing.
