Idylls of the King is a cycle of twelve narrative poems written by the English poet Alfred, Lord Tennyson in the 19th century. The author has a goal to tell the legend of King Arthur and his knights in the form of poems. He focuses on him becoming a king, having a power and his betrayal and death from the hands of Mordred. The poems narrate about the attempts of King Arthur to establish a powerful and fair kingdom, also about the heroic deeds of different knights such as Lancelot, Geraint, Galah
...ad, and Balin and Balan. The legends about Merlin and the Lady of the Lake are also included in the cycle. But on their background Author's image seems to be much more powerful and outstanding. The poems are composed in blank verse. They also contain a lot of wonderful nature descriptions which Tennyson was really fond of. The collection is recommended to everyone who likes legends and heroic deeds.
