“A Basket of Breadfruit,” the adventures of a t
...rader during the civil war days in Samoa when Colonel Albert Barnes Steinberger, an American filibuster, was intervening in the three-way struggle of the chiefs for supremacy, has the ring of truth. In fewer than two thousand words, the reader is plunged into a life-or-death situation, following the involvement of a South Sea trader hurrying his small schooner inside the perilous reef.
