“We had to take his car, since the restaurant wasn’t within walking distance, but once we arrived, I didn’t mind the drive. Alfred’s was a nice little out-of-the-way place that must have been there for years, but I had never heard of it. The interior was dark, the candelabras providing only a bit of dim lighting. The hostess walked us to the back and seated us at an intimate table for two.
