“None of them said a word until Annie flung open the door to a neat sitting room. Maisie was hunched over, clutching a pillow against her stomach, sobbing quietly.
“I didn’t realize you two shared a flat,” Skye said.
Annie shrugged, not especially friendly. “No reason why you should have known.”
“One of you had best tell us what’s going on,” Jay said. “I assume it was you who got Maisie to stage that little show with Steve the first day we arrived.”
Skye shot him a look. “But why... would Annie—”
“Yes, it was.” Annie sat down beside Maisie and dropped her head into her hands. “I’m sorry. It was a stupid thing to do.”
“I think you’d best explain,” Skye said, perching on the arm of a chair.
“It’s Peter. He’s bloody obsessed with you,” Annie said savagely. “And I’d had about enough of it.”MoreLess
