It wasn’t as if Karsen was relentlessly upbeat—truthfully, his thoughts were running along the same lines as Eutok’s—but if nothing... else he had the good grace to keep it to himself. So they rode, mile after mile, knowing that at any moment they could find themselves in the middle of some insurmountable danger, perfectly aware that their quest could come to an abrupt and terminal end.
