“I go away for two weeks and come home to find out you got married. And you…” She pointed at her new step-dad. “How could you let her talk you into a Vegas wedding? You’re not crazy teens. I know she didn’t go on a binger and get drunk, she can’t drink yet, and…for God’s sake my mom makes lists in her sleep. So not fair.”
Her daughter pouted. “I missed the first one because I wasn’t born yet. I’m speechless and disappointed in your selfish behavior. Both of you.”
“Ashland we’re going to be late to your competition. You can berate us later. You have a trophy to win.” Her daughter stood there in all of her teenage angst glory wearing her new cheering uniform. She grabbed her duffle bag and poms and glared daggers at them. “We are not done with this conversation.”
Mia swatted her butt. “Don’t be fresh.”
Ashland sighed and stormed out of her suite to the hotel elevator.
“Love, you didn’t think she’d give us a lovely welcome home did you?”
Dire chuckled and slid his hand into hers.
