“Don’t argue with me!” She lowered her voice still more when she remembered how well the other Opiri could hear. “You’re addicted, Ares. Addicted to my blood. You have to take as much as you can right now, and convert me so that you can break the addiction.”
The little color still left in his face drained away, and soon there was nothing left of the Ares she knew, only a dangerous and hungry predator.
“You betrayed me,” he growled.
“I want to stay with you. Ares...”
Without a word, he yanked her against his chest and bit her. She had never felt so much discomfort from one of his bites, and it lasted a very long time.
“Another infraction!” Hannibal cried.
Wiping his mouth with the back of his hand, Ares pushed Trinity away and returned to the floor. “Take your own blood, Hannibal,”
