“~Dr. Suess We stay still and quiet so long I feel the need to whisper, “Are you awake?”
“Yep. I used to have a bad habit of conking out after a solid fuck.” He smiles as he cups my cheek in his palm and tilts my face toward him for another kiss, this time infinitely tender. “That never happens with you.”
“Maybe I’m not tiring you out thoroughly?” I roll to face him then slide my hand down his chest, over the ridges and planes of his taut abdomen.
“That’s definitely not it.” He traps my fingers, laces his through mine and rests the interlocked digits over his heart. I snuggle into the warmth still radiating off him in waves. “No matter how easy it’d be to close my eyes, I’d rather watch you.”
“Spending time like this…” I burrow deeper into his embrace, nestling my face in the crook of his shoulder and neck before whispering in his ear, “Is the best thing in the world.”
“I don’t believe you.” His quick denial has me retreating to stare into his eyes directly.
