“The diligent nursing care and the gallons of tea helped her body fight off the infection. Just in time, she returned to work at the hospital being careful to avoid Doctor Freeman at all cost. The cold, rain, and food shortages over the winter months kept the clinic hopping and Maggie and Kitty fell into their beds exhausted every night. None of them suffered any more weather afflictions worse than the common cold. And, though they were obviously thinner, at least they didn’t suffer the ravages of malnutrition either.
