John Thackray Bunce (1828-1899) was editor of The Birmingham Daily Post and a leading Liberal. He was a trustee of Mason College, Chairman of the Birmingham City Art Gallery and a wealthy newspaper proprietor. On 7 March 1899 he was given Honorary Freedom of the City of Birmingham.
