He and Theo were standing in the night on the stark, concrete top of the building in which they worked. There was a small fortress in the centre that housed the narrow stairwell and the vitals of the central heating and air conditioning, a broad strip on all sides and then a concrete wall to waist height.

'How's that?' 'He has these discussions with his dog, a runt of a fox terrier so highly strung that it's in a constant state of quivering agitation.
