Today he had to lead three big male dragons to the mud baths. They would keep his mind off of Akki.
Sometimes, before a male dragon mated, its skin got flaky, the scales discoloring. "Scales like mud, little stud" was not just a nursery rhyme. It was true. In the wild, dragons usually soaked themselves in the muddy rivers, lying down on the river bottoms until only their eyes showed above water. The mud and the river flow scoured their scales clean. The cleaner the scales, the more likely that the male dragon could impress a female.
