Mostly, it seemed to be held by raiders disguised as Welsh soldiers. It hadn’t taken tremendous effort to breach the wooden gate and penetrate the castle. Rather than fight, most of the Welsh had fled. Kirk’s army had come away with little more than exhaustion and minimal satisfaction.
