““Did I wake you?” Didi asked.
It was just past eight a.m., and Norah had had a restless night. She had stayed up late, waiting for a call from Audrey that never came. When she finally dozed off, her anxiety was too acute to let her get any restful sleep. She kept waking up, wondering if there was any chance Ted would agree to her proposal.
