“I didn’t want to think about him. But there he was. His face hung over me like a black cloud. His screechy voice rang in my ear like a fire bell. I blinked and shook my head to get his voice and face out of my mind. It helped a little, but what helped more was the clock. Nuts! It was 8:30!
