“Sarah and I had just arrived down in the lobby of The Ritz-Carlton in New Orleans, where we stayed last night. It was a luxury hotel and way out of my budget just to stay on my own. Going to the reception, I went up and handed back my key for the room I’d had with Sarah. “Miss Dobbs, your things have been moved to room 1002, one of our Vieux Carre Suites.”
“I’m sorry, did you just say my things have been moved to another room?”
The man nodded. “Yes. Mr. Blake had them moved.”
“He w...hat?”
The guy took a step back at my yell.
Sarah pulled on my arm, and I turned to her. “Ashlyn, get the key and go see him. Please.” She wouldn’t meet my eyes.
“What have you done, Sarah?”
“I just helped. Please get the card and go up to the room.”
