He was middle-aged, silver-haired, and a little stout. Not fat, but just well filled out. His suit was expensive, and so was his haircut. His office was on the third floor of the Universal Bank building, and it was paneled in unfashionable dark wood. But it was a corner office and had windows on two sides, so it was well lit and quite pleasant. There were tall cabinets on two walls, and they were filled with toy soldiers that Burns assumed were Staddens. Bruce himself sat behind a big wooden desk and asked what he could do for Burns.
Burns considered asking him to confess to Matthew Hart’s murder, but he didn’t think that would work. And he didn’t know what would. He didn’t really even know why he was there in Bruce’s office.
