Kitty put her things down on the sand and looked at the low waves seething softly at the bottom of the beach. Beyond them there was no line to tell where the water ended and the gray sky began. The world was all one substance, fog, bog, shaggy and ragged and moist, dripping, drenched, flooded, engulfed.
