“Patrick wiped from his face the water Eve had spit at him. “I was trying to be hospitable. You don’t have much longer on earth. I would think you’d welcome a little kindness. But then, I forgot you’re no longer a reasonable woman.”
Patrick scowled through the tiny window in the cell door. It was an old root cellar, and three walls were still dirt. It was also conveniently located off the basement of his house, which he’d soundproofed years ago when he’d started making his videos.
When E...ve opened her mouth to scream, he slammed the little window shut, closing her into darkness, keeping her sounds muted.
A moment later, he opened it again.
