“Mama was determined: if I was going to do a ranch hand’s job, I was going to eat a ranch hand’s breakfast. To her that meant sausage and biscuits with gravy, bacon, eggs and pan-roasted potatoes at the very least, plus thick slices of hearty homemade bread with jam.
