“Nobody had come in yet, but Booker had to get this work done before Skye woke up. He wasn’t going to miss any time with her during her last few days on the ranch.
The only sound was the scratch of his pencil. Running numbers and making lists soothed his muddled brain. Unfortunately he’d awakened with too many emotions roiling inside him. His head felt like a washing machine—churning waters and the one missing sock was always slipping beneath the surface, lost again.
Yeah, Skye had him tied in knots. But numbers were constant. No ups and downs. He knew what to expect from this job. Before this week, he’d known what to expect in the bungalows too. Then Skye had upended that bucket.
He pushed out a sigh and sat back. The click of the front door closing made him look up. Suddenly Jeremy appeared.
Oh great.
Booker reached into his desk drawer and pulled out four small boxes.
