Lily shook her head. “I didn’t get a pretty wedding gown, because I didn’t’ know I was getting married. I get to choose and pay for one in my life.”
Constance frowned. You don’t think you’ll choose and pay for your daughters’ gowns?”
“Not in this decade I won’t.” Lily wasn’t taking ...any kind of argument from her new friend. One of the older girls from the orphanage had taken on the job of nurse for the twins, and Constance was thrilled that she was going to work out. She didn’t bother to ask why Lily hadn’t just asked Anne to do the job to begin with, because she knew the answer. Lily had wanted to throw Charles and Constance together as much as possible.
