“Casey said. “Not like this.”
His reflection stared back at him through a layer of steam but didn’t answer, so he sighed and wiped at the mirror with a towel. What he saw there was clearer, but any responses to the questions ricocheting inside his brain were just as muddled as before. Now would be a good time to have a brother, he thought, or that elusive father figure who had disappeared from his mother’s life long before Casey himself had been born.
