A stiff breeze came from the other side of the river and chilled him right down to his core. He pushed himself up with a groan and sat for several minutes. The plant below still draped its vines out into the river, waiting for its next victim. Finally, he stood and stretched, finding that he was bruised and bleeding but could walk.
